Akorn Automotive Appraisals - This is my original WebSite. You can find more information about me and services that I offer. I also have personal or consignment vehicles available for sale from time to time. Check it out!
NADA Price Guides - this site allows you to access the NADA price guides. I am on the advisory board for the print version of the Classic, Collectible, and Special Interest Car Appraisal Guide and Directory.
Hemmings Motor News - The "old car bible" has thousands of collector car classifieds, a good reference for pricing when you want to look at ranges of "advertised" prices. Plus restoration products and services. You need to subscribe to the print version too.
eBay Motors - People joke about eBay, but you can find a lot of vehicles for sale, and use as a comparative value study for vehicles you are interested in or trying to appraise.
CarFax - For a fee, obtain vehicle history reports (most post 1980 vehicles) that will identify previous owners, problems with titles, such as salvage, flood, or theft recovery before buying. Money well spent.
Krause Collector Car Price Guide - This guide is published yearly by Krause publications an I buy it every year as a primary reference source for prices. These prices are not available on-line. I especially like the fact that a 1-6 scale is used to rate the vehicles condition - broader than any other guide in the industry.
Spot Rot Gauge - This gauge is very helpful and fast in determining thickness of paint or presence of body filler. I have one in my appraisal kit and use it on almost every appraisal I perform. This link is just one source that you can purchase this item.
